James Nagel

Sailing Instructor

I started sailing with Island Sail when I turned seven, and this will be my 8th year. I'm from Clevland, Ohio and I have been coming to Vinalhaven in the summer for as long as I can remember. This fall , I will be a junior at Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine, where I am on the ski cross, soccer and lacross teams.

Teddy Helgerson

Sailing Instructor

Hi everyone! My name is Teddy and I am 16 years old. I'm currently an instructor at Island Sail and I have been sailing at the program for 9 years. I live in Philly with my mom, dad, little brother, and two dogs. The sports that I enjoy besides sailing are baseball and wrestling, both of which I play at my high school on the varsity teams. One of my favorite things about Island Sail is the extremely strong community that can be found both in and out of the sailing environment. I have always loved hanging out with my sailing camp friends outside of camp at the quarries or just at each other’s houses. In my opinion, Island Sail is a great place to become an excellent sailor and an even better community member.
