Head Sailing Instructor 

Hannah Arey is our head instructor this year. It will be her tenth year at Island

Sail! She is from South Portland, Maine and attends American University in

Washington DC . She’s been doing competitive sailing throughout high school

and races in college. This will be her fourth summer as an instructor here at

Island Sail!

Sailing Instructors

Henry Nero  

Henry Nero is 17 and this is his 7th year sailing on the Island. He goes to

boarding school in upstate New York and plays lacrosse.

Molly Frank

Molly Frank is 16 and this is her 8th year at Island Sail. She is from Saratoga

Springs, New York and goes to boarding school in western Massachusetts.

James Nagel

James Nagel started sailing with Island Sail when he turned seven, and this will

be his 8th year. He’s from Clevland, Ohio, and has been coming to Vinalhaven in

the summer for as long as he can remember. This fall, he will be a freshman at

Syracuse University.

Sean Walton

Sean Walton is 16 years old and lives in Round Rock, Texas. This will be his 9th

year at Island Sail.

Ibis Bird

Ibis Bird is 15 and this is her 8th year at island sail. She is from Belfast, Maine.

Teddy Helgerson

Teddy Helgerson is 17 going into his senior year of High School. He is from

Philadelphia, Pensilvania and this is his 11th year at Island Sail.
